Settings
Every setting in the extension, what it does, and when to change it.
Open the settings from the DoRaptim icon in the toolbar: All downloads, then Settings in the side menu. Or right-click the icon and choose Options. Changes are saved as you make them; the top right says All changes saved when they are.
Downloads from Chrome
Take over browser downloads
On: downloads you start in Chrome go to DoRaptim, which shows a preview first. Off: Chrome downloads every file itself, as if DoRaptim were not there. Turn it off for a moment when a site only works with Chrome's own download, then on again.
Smallest file to take over
Files smaller than this stay with Chrome: they finish in a moment anyway, and a preview window for every small image would get in the way.
- Every file (0): DoRaptim takes every download, however small.
- 1 MiB (the default), 5 MiB, 20 MiB: only bigger files.
- Or type any size in MiB, such as
0.1for about 100 KB.
Files whose size the server does not say are always taken.
Notify when downloads finish
A system notification when a download finishes, with Open (for files that are safe to open) and Show in folder, and when one fails, with the reason.
Name files after the page
Some sites give files meaningless names, such as videoplayback.mp4 or a long number. With this on, the preview suggests the page's title instead, for example Holiday in Bali.mp4. Chrome asks you to let DoRaptim read the titles of your tabs; turning it off gives that permission back.
Videos
Find videos automatically
Puts a Download with DoRaptim button on videos while they play or when you point at them. Its menu lists the qualities with their sizes, and the subtitles. The toolbar icon also shows how many videos a page has.
- Chrome asks you to let DoRaptim read the sites you visit. DoRaptim only looks for video and audio on them, and sends nothing anywhere until you pick a file.
- Turning it off gives that access back.
- After turning it on, reload the pages that are already open.
Without it you can still download videos: Find videos on this page in the popup, or right-click a video and choose Download with DoRaptim. See Videos and streams.
Where files go
Download folder
Where DoRaptim saves files: your Downloads folder unless you choose another. Change… opens your system's folder window; DoRaptim never takes a path typed into a web page. Use the default folder goes back to Downloads.
Subfolders by type
Each type of file goes into its own folder inside the download folder:
| Type | Usual folder | For example |
|---|---|---|
| Videos | Videos | MP4, MKV, WebM |
| Audio | Audio | MP3, FLAC, M4A |
| Images | Images | JPG, PNG, WebP |
| Documents | Documents | PDF, DOCX, XLSX |
| Archives | Archives | ZIP, RAR, 7Z |
| Applications | Applications | EXE, DMG, PKG |
| Other | Other | everything else |
Rename a folder by typing a new name; it is saved after a moment. Leave a name empty to save that type straight into the download folder. Use the usual names puts the names above back. A folder name is one name, without / or \.
In the preview you can also choose a different folder for one download.
Speed
The engine remembers these, also after a restart.
Connections per download
Each file is split into this many parts, fetched at the same time: 1 to 16, 8 by default. More connections are faster on most servers; some servers limit how many they allow, and then fewer is better. It applies to downloads added after the change. Streams fetch up to 8 pieces at a time.
Downloads at once
How many downloads run at the same time, 1 to 32. The others wait in the queue and start when one finishes.
Limit the speed
Off: as fast as your connection allows. On: all downloads together stay under the speed you set, in KiB/s or MiB/s, so video calls and browsing stay quick while a big download runs.
Engine
Shows whether the engine is running and connected, its version, and how many downloads are running and waiting. Check again asks it once more; Setup help opens the install steps. When it says Not connected, see Troubleshooting.
