Using DoRaptim

The preview window, the popup, the Downloads page, and the settings.

Downloads from the browser

Once the extension is installed, downloads you start in Chrome go to DoRaptim. By default it takes files of 1 MiB or more, and files of unknown size; smaller files are left to the browser. A preview window opens first:

  • the file's size and type;
  • the file name, which you can change;
  • Save to: the folder, which follows the file's type (Videos, Documents, …) or a folder you choose with Change…;
  • for videos: the length, the quality to download, and the subtitles to save next to it.

Choose Download, and the window becomes the download's progress: speed, time left, and each part fetched over its own connection. You can close it; the download goes on.

The popup

Click the DoRaptim icon in the toolbar to see the current downloads with their progress, pause or resume them, open a finished file or show it in its folder, add a download from a link (+), and turn taking over downloads on or off.

The Downloads page

All downloads in the popup opens a page with every download in a table, with tabs for active, completed, and failed ones, search, and pages of 100 rows. Tick downloads to pause, resume, remove, delete their files, or clear the completed ones all at once. Click a name to see its details: the parts and their progress, the server, whether it can be resumed, and its checksum.

Settings

On the same page, under Settings:

  • Download folder and the subfolder for each type of file;
  • how many downloads run at once, the connections per download (1 to 16), and a speed limit;
  • the smallest file DoRaptim takes over;
  • naming files after the page, notifications, and finding videos automatically.

Pause, resume, and restarts

A paused download keeps what it has. It continues from where it stopped, also after you restart the computer, as long as the file on the server has not changed; if it has, DoRaptim starts it again rather than mixing old and new bytes. Finished files are never overwritten: a name already in use gets a number.
